The Neon Museum | Neon Boneyard, Las Vegas

The Neon Museum was founded in 1996 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit and now holds 322 signs, 977 pieces in total, drawn from more than 200 Las Vegas properties. Its visitors' center is the former lobby of the La Concha Motel, a shell-shaped Googie structure designed by Paul Revere Williams, FAIA, and built in 1961 on Las Vegas Boulevard South next to the Riviera. The building was saved from demolition in 2005 and relocated to the museum campus in 2006, where it now fronts the Neon Boneyard and the North Gallery.

Twenty-eight signs in the Boneyard are restored and lit all the time; the other 250-plus are unrestored and lit from the ground. Book evening admission and add the Movies Tour or the 45-minute Brilliant! Jackpot.

Common questions

What are the hours?

June through August, 8 p.m. to midnight with last entry at 11 p.m. September through May, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. with last entry at 10 p.m. The box office closes one hour before the posted closing time.

Are all the signs lit?

More than 250 signs in the Boneyard are unrestored and lit from the ground. Twenty-eight are fully restored and lit continuously; two of those, the Riviera and Fitzgeralds, were received in working condition.

What is the building at the entrance?

The visitors' center is the former La Concha Motel lobby, designed by Paul Revere Williams and built in 1961, rescued from demolition in 2005 and moved to the museum campus in 2006.

Does the heat affect a visit?

Yes. Admission may be delayed until after 8 p.m. when temperatures exceed 105°F, and tours and Brilliant! Jackpot are affected above 100°F.
