Yang's Kitchen | Chinese-American in Alhambra SGV
LA Times 101 #47. Chris Yang's farm-to-table Chinese-American kitchen in Alhambra — dry-aged barramundi Hainan rice, dan dan campanelle.
Chris Yang and Maggie Ho opened Yang's Kitchen in Alhambra in 2019 as a counter-service café, then evolved it into the SGV's most ambitious Chinese-American dinner destination. Yang sources from local farms — Weiser Family Farms for potatoes, Jurgielewicz for duck — and cooks across the full spectrum of Chinese-American reference points, from dan dan noodles reimagined as campanelle to dry-aged barramundi in the Hainan style. In 2025 the kitchen switched to seed oil-free cooking using cultured sugarcane oil and house-rendered duck fat.
A farm-to-table Chinese-American kitchen in Alhambra where Chris Yang and Maggie Ho source seasonally and cook from scratch — the Hainan fish rice with dry-aged barramundi, dan dan campanelle, and prawn ceviche with crispy chow mein make this the most exciting Chinese-American table in the SGV.
